A deceptively low, but two-and-a-half storey, modern house overlooking the golf course to the rear, and a splendid view of North Barrule to the front. She found herself strangely satisfied to still be able to see the great hill every day, despite it being a different aspect to the one she was used to. Newly built near the end of a private, unmade road with only one close neighbour, an elderly couple in an old farmhouse overtaken by the new housing estate, she was the first owner of the house named Martrooan.
She fell in love almost instantly. Five bedrooms, three good sized reception rooms, a wonderful kitchen and utility room, and, to her great excitement, an indoor swimming pool. The garden was large enough for her to have a vegetable patch, but not so big to be overwhelming.
